FältCom’s platform part of award winning IT solution
2009-05-18

The Swedish Farmers co-operation’s project for transport administration was awarded with ”The years most sustainable IT-project” in 2008. The solution is built upon FältCom’s communication platform FältCom MIIPS®.

The Swedish Farmers co-operation had a need to improve handling of goods and transports with the goal to increase profitability and decrease CO2 emissions. The solution became the Swedish Farmers co-operation TA-system. A system that handles the material flows of the whole group, resulting in more efficient logistics and simplified control, planning and follow-up.

By using the FältCom MIIPS® communication platform several systems could be integrated to one system that communicated with the business systems in the group and the systems used by the road carriers and forwarders. The unique point of the solution was that it was possible to use the best functions of a number of systems and make them work together to create a whole.

The solution was at the end of 2008 awarded with “The years most sustainable IT-project” at the CIO Awards in Sweden.

The system has resulted in more efficient logistics for storage and distribution with less manual processes. All reporting is digital from chauffeur to road carrier. No paper documents or letters are used. All delivery notes are for example sent via SMS. Route optimization and utilization of backhauls have decreased the distances, lowered petrol consumption and increased road safety. Joint transports with other customers have created external transport flows which have meant additional revenue.

Customer benefits are shorter lead times, improved delivery precision and faster information without higher costs. Other benefits are that the road carriers have lowered petrol consumption and maintenance costs. The chauffeur has enjoyed an improved working environment. CO2 emissions have been lowered and the Swedish Farmers co-operation has received quality transports at lower cost.
